Thiells FD Dive Team Captain Hughes led the third and final ice and cold water rescue training for this season. 10 members including 8 NYS certified technicians ventured out this frigid morning to Lake Askoti in the Tuxedo Fire District where they encountered realistic thin ice conditions. Members of the team practiced self rescue, throw bags, and go rescuer techniques using slings and Carlson boards. Special thank you to Tuxedo FD for allowing us to train within their fire district. Thiells FD staffs a water rescue team of many competencies including trained individuals and equipment for surface water rescue, flood water rescue, swift water rescue, and dive rescue/recovery.
